Jared Bistrong, a skilled instructor from the Miami Sound Institute, invites participants to embark on a transformative journey through his six-week Introduction to Hand Drumming course. This engaging class is specifically focused on the Djembe drum, offering students a comprehensive foundation in hand drumming that not only nurtures their personal meditation and wellness practices but also fosters a vibrant drumming community.
Throughout the course, participants will explore the rich history of various drum rhythms and percussion instruments. They will learn essential techniques and exercises, as well as proper drumming etiquette, all designed to enhance their skills and deepen their understanding of the art of hand drumming. The curriculum emphasizes the development of a powerful cultivation practice centered around drumming, allowing students to experience the profound benefits of rhythm and sound in their lives.
Enrolling in this class grants students access to an extensive video tutorial library, enabling them to practice at home during the week between sessions. This resource supports their learning journey and reinforces the skills acquired in each class.
Additionally, participants will have the exciting opportunity to join a dynamic community of drummers and perform at live wellness and music events with the South Beach Sound Healing Orchestra, which regularly hosts large gatherings in the community.
No prior drumming experience is required to join this enriching course; however, participants must have their own Djembe drum. For those who do not yet own a drum, Jared will have a selection available for sale during the first class and is happy to assist students in finding and purchasing a drum before the course begins.
This class is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to connect with music, enhance their wellness practices, and become part of a supportive drumming community.
